after being in the hole, one looses a certain ambiguity about ones self.
To fly after that, well it was almost religious.
The Russian Mi24 Hind was a joy to fly, & surprisingly light on the controls. Up until then I had only flown those little sport choppers. I stayed up late the next night talking to the Hind pilot He certainly had some stories of what the Hind was able to sustain & dish out in Afghanistan. H'd herd of stories of Hind pilots who were able to do loops & rolls. He said he'd never seen it himself though.
She's a big Ol' deadly goony bird.
The first time I flew advance guard for the train while going through a village; I shot a "armed" car while flying at 90' hovering 4ft off of the Hind's "nest". Blew a truck off the tracks that was going to get in the way of the train. *stopped & landed for one of the dead sheep that flew out of the back*. Strafed to hell a coloum of tanks that were on their way to mess with the party. Dropped the 2 capture teams on to the tops of 2 of the remaining tanks. Personally fired the teargas nade that started driving the last crew from the remaining tank. My sniper friend in the side compartment popped the first guy out. I popped a smoke into the hatch to complicate things. Things were mopped up fairly quickly after that.
We went on to capture a small airport. But that is a story for someone else to tell...

Orson here,
I`m a Pilot, I can fly.
I'm the lunatic that passes as a pilot around here. If you can get me in the air, I'm your man. I'd rather fly than sleep.
I'll do just about anything to keep our little bands ("Air arm"}supplyed
with the precious fule to keep it operational a little longer.
I like being Airmarshal, but that doesn't stop me from laying it out on the line to save the partys bacon
1995
Russia launches tacs on Western European military concentrations. Their paratroopers follow.
Nukes go off in Moscow.
1997
PC's are pulled from the gulag to aid a Engineer Guard unit reach what's left of the west before the KGB "recruits" the tekniks.
A steam train, and more then a 1000 miles of unverified track remain between the party, and escape from the waste of fallen Russia.
Oh, and some nerve gas.
